Reverend Grant
Shimanek serves as the Pastor of Outreach Ministries at the
Anchorage Moravian Church.
Reverend Shimanek’s
primary assignment is to build a young adult church of
Alaska Natives in Anchorage, Alaska. This is based on the
Church’s vision to be a “vibrant, passionate, network of
diverse believers that share God’s indispensable Word, to
transform and nurture lives in our community.”
His
scope of ministry will be to preach the Word, to provide
pastoral services, to educate both young people and adults
equipping them to face life in a competitive society, and to
develop ministry opportunities for the Body of Christ that
reach out to the needy in spirit, mind, and body.
This is a “self-supporting” ministry using God’s gifts and
talents. Grant’s approach to evangelical ministry "trusts in
God to provide the necessary resources." Many Christian
churches, groups, and individuals will be approached to
support the Shimanek family for this work of “Faith.”

things for God
The Anchorage
Moravian Church is comprised of Alaska Natives from around
the State, operating as an inter-denominational community of
Christians. This is a very exciting time in the life of this
ministry that is dealing with needs for meeting space,
office space, and equipping human resources to accomplish
our mission.
The Church’s
mission is to “Provide loving care and spiritual
opportunities to youth, families, and elders in our
community." The ministry plan is to reach over 40,000 Alaska
Natives in the greater Anchorage area in the next five
years. The priority is to work with young adults and their
families, in collaboration with our spiritually talented
traditional Native Elders.
